Pedestrian Hit by Pickup Truck, Killed on I-8 in La Mesa Near Lake Murray

A pickup truck fatally struck a pedestrian Tuesday on Interstate 8 near Lake Murray, authorities reported.

The Chevrolet Silverado hit the victim at about 8:30 a.m. on the eastbound side of the freeway, just west of Baltimore Drive in La Mesa, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The pedestrian, described as male and possibly a transient, died at the scene. According to a witness, he ran out onto the freeway and stood in the roadway just prior to getting hit by the truck, the CHP reported.
